Ladygrove Primary School

Welcome to Class 4

Welcome to our class page.

We have PE on a Monday and Friday, please ensure you all have your PE kits with you.

Learning is engaging in Year 2 and Mrs Tamplin continually reminds us that ‘’attitude is more important than ability’’.

We use the Building Learning Power animals to be resourceful, reflective and resilient in when we are working and being a good team member is important to us.

Our learning is cross-curricular as far as possible, which helps us to make links across all the subjects and develop a depth of knowledge in our chose topic.

Every half term, Mrs Tamplin introduces a different topic with which we, as a class, immerse ourselves in.

Reading is at the heart of our learning and always linked to our topic. As a class, we enjoy sharing stories and developing our understanding of the text.

Homework is set on a Friday and taken in the following Thursday.

Spellings are given out on a Friday to learn in preparation for their test the following Friday.

You need to enjoy reading your reading books at least three times a week, reading records need to be handed in every day please.

Let’s tiptoe through the tulips together and discover the sights, sounds and smells of the garden. This half term, we’ll have a visit from a gardening expert. We’ll find out how to look after plants, ask the experts questions and appreciate the flowers. We’ll write an information book about plants, follow instructions, enjoy the story of the Enormous Turnip and write stories of our own. Discovering our green fingers will be fun when we plant different seeds and watch them grow. We’ll also learn about the different parts of a plant and create our own ‘planting and growing’ action rhyme. Our senses will help us describe and sort a range of smells and we’ll make beautifully scented products. We will look closely at a wide variety of plants, create detailed, observational drawings and press real flowers to use in collages.

As part of our science lessons we have been planting beans. Have a look here to see how we did it.

We allow staff time off to undertake union official duties, however we do not have any staff who are currently union officials.
