Mrs J Weichlbauer

Headteacher Governor

I have worked in Primary Education for nearly twenty years and during that time have worked in a variety of schools across Telford and Wrekin. I have been an active Governor for the last ten years and have sat on the Governing Body of four different schools, both as a Staff Governor and as a Headteacher Governor. I am passionate about ensuring that the children of Ladygrove receive the best education that they can and work hard to make sure this is the case. Outside of school I enjoy spending time with my family.

Chair of Governors

Parent Governor

Term of Office 16.5.19 – 23.1.27

Hi I’m Ben Maguire and am really pleased to have been part of the Ladygrove governing body since 2019 as a parent governor. With both my sons attending Ladygrove and really enjoying their time at the school I’m extremely keen to add value and help support the school throughout the time they both attend. As I’m not from an educational background being a governor really gives me an insight in to the mechanics of a school and to offer a different perspective on the demands and issues all schools face.
As a director of an automotive fintech business I feel I have many skills that can easily be transferred to the benefit of the school. I’m an experienced negotiator, have managed business restructures and also recruitment. Budgets and forecasting performance are key to my role as well as identifying opportunities to work more effectively, save costs and keep the business moving forward.
Being able to give back something to the school that our boys attend and more importantly enjoy is something I’m very passionate about. I’m committed to working with the rest of the governing body to help the school develop and continue to succeed.

Chris Brettell

Hi my name is Chris and I have worked in education within Telford for quite a while! I have taught at Telford and Wrekin schools as a classteacher and SENCO. Co-Opted Governor

Term of office 01.09.2022 to 17.07.2026

Hello, my name is Nicky Brown, and I am delighted to be joining the Governing body of Ladygrove Primary school.  I have been a teacher since 1978 and retired as Deputy Head at Grange Park Primary school in 2018. I was SENCO, Pastoral Lead and Foundation stage co-ordinator at Grange Park as well as Deputy. After leaving my substantive role I have continued to work at Grange Park as the Lead for the School direct PGCE teacher training programme ‘The Telford Partnership’ with Wolverhampton University. I work with 7 primary schools in the Telford area, Ladygrove being one of them and we provide high quality placements for PGCE trainees, and we have several former Telford Partnership trainees now working in Telford schools.  This role is still based at Grange Park Primary school.  I also set up a Family stay and Play group again at Grange Park which is very successful and provides a quality play sessions for both parents/ carers and young children.
I am passionate about children being given the best start in life possible and this means access to high quality education and excellent support for their wellbeing. All children deserve to have their needs met whatever they are and as a Governor I see my role as supporting the excellent team at Ladygrove to deliver this and to continue to keep the school moving forward.
I have lived in the local area for 23 years I live in Lawley bank; I am married with 2 sons who both went to school locally. I have seen massive changes in the area over the last 20 years and seen the area develop and grow.  In my spare time I am a member of Rock choir and often perform with them at Charity events. I am also a member of a gym and enjoy exercise, walking and I am a member of the National Trust.
I look forward to getting to know and working with the Ladygrove community of staff, parents, and children.

Co-Opted Governor

Term of office 31.01.23 to 31.01.27

Hi I am Maxine Maguire
I feel extremely privileged to be part of the Ladygrove Governing Body. I have a non educational background, having worked many years in the Legal sector and more recently in the NHS. In both roles I was a Partner, which meant I had responsibility for daily decisions regarding the running of the practices, together with business planning and budgets. The most enjoyable part of my job was problem solving. Another role that I have enjoyed is being a Magistrate. This has given me a broad outlook on life, situations and circumstances, that I otherwise would not have experienced.
I feel I can contribute towards the continued success of Ladygrove with my main objectives being to ensure the children have the facilities and knowledge to achieve the best they can be and to learn in a happy and safe environment. I feel I am approachable and have a very much hands on attitude. I also feel communication is key to the best outcomes.
I am really looking forward to working with the children, parents and teachers at Ladygrove to help the school build on its current success.

Term of office 21.02.24 to 20.02.28

My name is Colin Mahy.  I feel extremely fortunate to be given the opportunity to become a governor at Ladygrove Primary School and Nursery. I have spent many years in education. When I left school, I trained as an RAF aircraft engineer at RAF Cosford and spent the next twenty one years working on aircraft and training future aircraft engineers. This experience has helped me to understand what service children go through, and the unique challenges they face. On leaving the RAF, I went back to university and trained as a primary school teacher. Once qualified I spent the next seven years working within Telford and Wrekin at Queenswood Primary School and then as curriculum lead at Priorslee Academy. It was then that I moved into Shropshire and became Deputy headteacher at St Marys CE Primary School before taking up the position as Head of School, for a year, while the current head was seconded.

I have a lot of experience in driving forward teaching and learning, but I also know first-hand what it is like to be a teacher.  In my role as governor, I will do all I can to help the children achieve their full potential and support the school staff in ensuring this happens.

Parent Governor

Term of office 18.04.23 to 18.04.27

I am delighted to have been appointed parent governor. My daughter starts Year 5 in September 2023 and my son starts Reception. We live locally and walk to school whenever possible. I think it is important that our children realise the importance of reducing their carbon footprint.

I like to get involved in the life of the school; attending events and taking an active role in my children’s learning journey. With schooling and ideas in education changing at pace, navigating guidance and initiatives can be difficult. I hope that by working closely together with the teaching and non-teaching staff, my wide-ranging experiences will be useful in this respect. I am an experienced secondary Science teacher who has worked at Head of Department level, overseeing and managing change. More recently, my experience has been with the gifted end of the ability spectrum, enriching the curriculum through stretch and challenge activities. I have enjoyed delivering Science workshops to Year 3 and 4 at Ladygrove. I have been working closely with the Science coordinator and have plenty of ideas to enrich the Science curriculum further.

In my time away from education, I enjoy spending time with the family at our caravan in Wales, where we climb hills and walk miles through the beautiful countryside.

Parent Governor

Term of office 17.11.23 to 16.11.27

I am honored to serve as a Parent Governor at Ladygrove. As a parent myself, I understand the importance of fostering an environment where our children can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. My commitment as a Parent Governor is to work with the school leadership, other governors, staff and parents, to ensure that every child receives the highest quality education possible. Throughout my career, I have taught in schools and advocated for youth voice. I am currently working as a programme manager for a Youth Work organisation and have set up and run a local charity dedicated to children having sporting opportunities within Telford &Wrekin, not just through playing, but also achieving sporting qualifications and officiating. I believe in the power of strong communication and transparency to build trust and develop positive relationships within our school community. I actively engage in discussions and the decision-making processes that shape the direction of our children’s school. I ensure that well-being is prioritised alongside the academic success of all students. I am dedicated to supporting our school in maintaining a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment where every child feels valued and supported. I feel privileged to contribute my time, skills, and perspectives to help Ladygrove school and nursery continue to develop and evolve.

STAFF Governor

Term of office 04.10.23 to 31.08.27

I am extremely excited to have been appointed as a staff governor. I have worked in education for over 9 years and have worked in multiple roles. All my teaching experience has been within Telford and Wrekin, as I am passionate about supporting the community that once played a vital role in my education and success. Therefore, I can’t wait to work alongside my colleagues, our school community and governors to continue making Ladygrove Primary School the best that it can be for children, staff and our wider community.

Term of office 04.10.23 to 31.08.27

I am honoured to have been appointed Associate Governor.

I have worked in education for a number of years now in Shropshire, as well Telford and Wrekin Local Authorities and gained my experience at different roles, which has given me a great overview of school life.

At weekends I volunteer as a Teacher at a local Polish school – I am very passionate about getting involved in helping local community.

I love spending my free time with my family, going on long walks with the dog and reading.

I am looking forward to work with my colleagues at Ladygrove to make a difference.

Co-Opted Governor

Term of office 20.04.24 to 19.04.28

I’m very excited to be joining the Governing Body at Ladygrove! I qualified as a teacher over 8 years ago, beginning my career commuting to Walsall before spending 6 happy years teaching and working with the families at Ladygrove. At the start of 2024, I decided to take a career break to look after my two small children – one of whom now attends Ladygrove Nursery himself. When I’m not running around after my boys and Labrador, I’m working towards qualifying with the BfN charity to volunteer on the postnatal ward in Telford as a feeding helper.  I grew up in Telford and attended the local schools, enjoying my time thoroughly which is what inspired me to teach in Telford myself.  As a teacher, my passion was always to help every child discover their full potential in their own way – something which I hope to extend into the role of governor too.
