Attendance

We believe that working together with parents and carers is the best way to result in positive attendance outcomes for our children.

We promote good attendance and punctuality with the children in our school.

Being just 5 minutes late per day can have a significant impact on your child’s attainment and progress. Please can you talk to your children about the importance of being in school on time every day”.

Certificates are given termly in recognition of 100% attendance. Twice a term we hold a focused attendance week where the winning class receives “Wallace Time” and an entry into the attendance raffle. Any class that achieve 100% attendance receive two entries into the raffle.

We also have a weekly class attendance competition with the winning class in KS1 and KS2 being awarded the school attendance mascots to proudly display. They will also receive an entry into the attendance raffle.

Buddy the Bear & Lucky Pup!

The attendance board is proudly displayed for the children to see.

Our Pupil & Family Support Worker is also our Attendance Lead and is happy to work with both children and families to improve attendance and punctuality. Please contact school if you would like some support or advice to improve your child’s attendance. You can phone the school number (01952 388370) and ask to speak to Miss Laura Barton or email A2168@taw.org.uk to request a call back.

It is important that your child arrives at school on time and aims for 100% attendance! We know that a child’s attendance has a direct impact on their learning. Those children who are persistently absent from school and frequently late do not achieve their potential and can fall behind in class. Please support the school and your children, by ensuring your child attends school ready to learn every day.

If no contact is received from the parents/carers of an absent pupil on the first morning of absence, we will:

Follow ‘First day contact’ procedures and contact the parent by telephone/text message, if no contact is made by 12 noon then a home visit will be undertaken by a member of the school’s pastoral team.

Where attendance is causing a concern our pastoral team will meet with parents and carers to work out what the barriers to nonattendance are . An attendance support plan will then be put into place.

If improvements are not made then school and the Educational Welfare Officer (EWO) will begin to work in a more formal way.
