Dear Parents and Carers,

As part of our Stone Age topic we have booked a visit for our year 3 children to the Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre at Craven Arms on Wednesday 14^th September 2022.

The cost of this visit is £9.60 which covers the entrance fee, coach hire and insurance costs.

Under the requirements of the Education Reform Act 1988, we can only raise the cost by voluntary contributions.  There is no obligation to contribute and children will not be treated differently according to whether or not any contribution has been made. However this visit can only go ahead if the level of support is sufficient.

The children will be learning about the great woolly mammoth and life in the Stone Age, and have the opportunity to take part in a variety of workshops exploring aspects of the Stone Age period.

The coach will be leaving school at approximately 9am and will return to school before 3.15pm.

Please ensure that your child wears forest school clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty but please wear a school jumper/cardigan, comfortable shoes and a warm waterproof.  Your child will need a packed lunch, no glass bottles or fizzy drinks. School can provide a packed lunch if you are in receipt of free school meals. Please email A2168@taw.org.uk to arrange this.  Otherwise we ask that you send lunch in a disposable bag, so that these can be disposed of after lunch, as there is nowhere to store lunch boxes.

Please log onto your “scopay account” tick the box giving consent for your child to attend the trip and make a voluntary contribution by Tuesday 6th September 2022.

Dear Parents and Carers,

In the autumn term, your child is learning about the Ancient Greeks as part of their history topic work. In order to bring the learning alive for the children, we have arranged a visit from ‘Portals to the Past’ to deliver an Ancient Greek Workshop in school on Tuesday 13^th September 2022.

This experience will provide children with a real insight into Ancient Greek life and times.  They will explore Greek democracy, learn about Alexander the Great, ancient Greek myths, legends and beliefs, investigate artefacts and take part in fun learning activities, such as solving Greek Archimedes puzzles. This should prove to be a very enjoyable day for us all.  The day will enable children to develop a deeper understanding of the time of the Ancient Greeks, in order to draw well-considered comparisons with the lasting impact this civilisation has had on modern life.

If your child wishes to, they can come dressed as an Ancient Greek for the day to really experience the day to its fullest.  We will be talking to the children about what kind of costumes they could wear.

We would be grateful if you could give your consent for your child to take part in the Roman Workshop by using your scopay account.  Please tick the consent box and make a voluntary contribution of £8.40 for this workshop by Tuesday 6^th September.

Contributions are voluntary, but we must point out that without sufficient support such workshops cannot take place. We are sure you agree that the children’s education benefits greatly from such workshops.

Picnic Lunch 14.07.22

Dear Parents and Carers,

This year, your child will be taken swimming. This is to support us in ensuring that all children will be able to swim at least 25 metres by the end of Year 6.

Swimming has been arranged and will take place every Tuesday for ten weeks.  This is at no cost to yourselves as it is funded jointly by School and Telford and Wrekin Council.

Swimming lessons start on Tuesday 13^th September, the last session will be Tuesday 22^nd November.  Your child will be taken by coach to the swimming pool.

Your child will require a swimming costume, towel, coat and bag to place wet items into.  We would prefer boys to wear swimming trunks rather than shorts as most children find these easier to swim in. Girls need to bring a costume rather than a bikini/tankini. They will also need a bag to put their clothes in whilst swimming.  If for any reason they are unable to attend, we must receive a letter.

This swimming lesson will be one of their PE lessons for the week.

Please give consent using your sco-pay account as we are unable to take your child without this.  Your child will be taken by a teacher and a teaching assistant, and we will be joined by a swimming teacher and life guard; if you have any particular questions concerning these lessons, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s class teacher.

Dear Parents/Carers,

We are planning to hold a Year 6 Leavers Disco on Tuesday 12^th July to celebrate the children’s time at Ladygrove. The disco will be held outside (weather depending) from 6.15-7.15pm. This event is completely free of charge; children will be provided with food and drink. Children will need to be dropped off and collected at the main school gates that enter onto the playground.

We ask that children wear smart/casual and age-appropriate clothing with sensible footwear due to this being an outdoor event. Children may bring a camera to take some leavers photographs if they wish- cameras will be stored in a safe place when not in use. Photos must not be uploaded to social media.

Dear Parents/Carers,

We are holding our school discos run by our PTA, on Tuesday 12^th July. All places for the discos need be paid and booked through sco-pay.  Unfortunately, any pupils who have not booked a place will be unable to attend, for safeguarding reasons.

The cost of the disco is £2.00 and the pupils will receive a drink and a small pack of sweets when leaving.

Reception: 3.15 p.m. -4.00 p.m.

Reception Pupils to bring their disco clothing with them to get changed at the end of the school day. A member of Staff/PTA will take your child to the school hall and return them to their classroom for you to collect at 4.00 p.m.

Year 1 and 2: 4.15 p.m.-5.00 p.m.
