The children won the golden lunchbox! We collected the most PomPoms in Key Stage 1 for SMART code behaviour at lunchtimes. To celebrate we enjoyed game time on the iPads and sharing with their partners.

This week we were learning about staying safe and healthy. We discussed how to look after our bodies and how to help those who need it.
We are super proud of all the children who worked so hard in their assessments last week! All of their hard work is showing and they have learnt so much since they started in September. We are very happy teachers!
This week we are continuing to learn about measurement by looking at mass and volume. The children used concrete materials (everyday objects, cubes, scales) to support them with their learning. They were really Tough Tortoises!
As Team Ants we will be learning about road safety in PSHE.
Year 1 will be making musical instruments this week out of cardboard and plastic bottles. The children have worked as Resourceful Squirrels in music using resources to help them decorate their own instruments.
Our Wise Owls are working hard in RWI. They are following their groups books for the week. There are spellings to go out on Friday this week as normal in their homework books.

This week we are completing assessments in maths, reading and writing. In maths we are ending the week looking at mass and volume. The children used concrete materials (everyday objects, cubes) to support them with their learning. They were really Tough Tortoises!
As Team Ants we will be using our bodies and equipment safely in PE.
Year 1 will be making ‘mothers and others’ day cards this week to celebrate the special women in their life. The children have worked as Resourceful Squirrels in music using resources to help them make their own instruments.
Our Wise Owls are working hard in English to complete a Chance to Shine on retelling the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. Please remember there are no spellings this week due to assessment, they will continue as normal next week.

This week we are working hard in maths on fractions. We started the week looking at making halves, then moving onto quarters. The children used concrete materials (shapes, dienes) to support them with their learning. They were really Tough Tortoises!
As Team Ants we will be using our bodies to create music, we are going to work together to stay in time.
Year 1 are looking at primary colours in art this week and how we can change a colour by mixing them together. The children have worked as Resourceful Squirrels in P.E, making sure they are safe and using equipment appropriately.
Our Wise Owls are working hard in their new phonics group in RWI, this is helping them in their writing for other subjects. Please remember to complete their spellings on a weekly basis to prepare them for their spelling tests on a Friday.
