Years 5 & 6 Swimming Lessons – September 22

July 2022

Dear Parents and Carers,

This year, your child will be taken swimming. This is to support us in ensuring that all children will be able to swim at least 25 metres by the end of Year 6.

Swimming has been arranged and will take place every Tuesday for ten weeks.  This is at no cost to yourselves as it is funded jointly by School and Telford and Wrekin Council.

Swimming lessons start on Tuesday 13th September, the last session will be Tuesday 22nd November.  Your child will be taken by coach to the swimming pool.

Your child will require a swimming costume, towel, coat and bag to place wet items into.  We would prefer boys to wear swimming trunks rather than shorts as most children find these easier to swim in. Girls need to bring a costume rather than a bikini/tankini. They will also need a bag to put their clothes in whilst swimming.  If for any reason they are unable to attend, we must receive a letter.

This swimming lesson will be one of their PE lessons for the week.

Please give consent using your sco-pay account as we are unable to take your child without this.  Your child will be taken by a teacher and a teaching assistant, and we will be joined by a swimming teacher and life guard; if you have any particular questions concerning these lessons, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s class teacher.

Please give your consent for your child to take part in these swimming lessons using your scopay account by Wednesday 20th July

Yours sincerely

Dear Parent/Carer,

Years 1 – 6

We will be continuing with providing children with a piece of toast each day at breaktimes.

If your child is in receipt of Free School Meals and has been receiving toast last term this will continue for next half term. Please email A2168@taw.org.uk if you DO NOT want your child to received a piece of toast each day.

Toast can be ordered through your child’s scopay account, this needs to be ordered and paid for by end of Monday 5th September 2022. The £8.25 cost will cover the half term from Tuesday 6th September to Thursday 20th October . Please note refunds cannot be given once the toast has been paid for.

Thank you for your continued support.

Increase in costs for services provided – September 2022

July 2022

Dear Parents and Carers,

Due to the increase in food, staffing and utility bills we have no option but to review the cost of services we offer within school.

Can we remind all parents to check if they are entitled to Free School Meals, https://www.telford.gov.uk/info/20028/school_meals/9/free_school_meals/3 ) as we use the additional funding this brings into school to fund some of the below for your children. This means that there are no additional costs for you. If you are in receipt for Free School Meals as well as free toast and an after-school club per week, we will also fund school trips, offer discounts on residential visits and pay for music lessons for your children. This means that we give your children every opportunity we can within school. If you are not entitled to Free School Meals, but are finding making ends meet challenging, we ask you to contact the school so we can support you.

Toast

Toast costs will increase to 25p a day from September. If you are entitled to free toast, you will still need to book toast, however there will be no cost for it.

Breakfast Club

Following on from a period of parental consultation, we are extending the opening time of our Breakfast Club from September 2022. Breakfast Club will open to children from 7.30 a.m. From September 2022 the cost of a Breakfast Club space from 7.30 to 8.35 (Classroom opening times) to £3.00 per session.

After School clubs 3.15 -4.15

The cost of all these clubs from September will be £3.25 per session, with the exception of cooking club which will increase to £4.20 per session. This increase will be from September 2022.

Ladygrove Hub Sessions

We have reviewed the costs associated with this as with other clubs. We are absorbing additional costs associated with Ladygrove Hub at the current time and will review in March in line with the financial year. This is so we continue to support our working parents as much as possible.

Thank you for your continued support.

Yours Sincerely

Change of Times to the School Day September 2022

July 2022

Dear Parents and Carers,

You will probably be aware that as part of the Government’s White Paper on ensuring that children catch up quickly on lost learning due to the pandemic, schools have been asked to look at changes to the school day. We have therefore altered our school day in line with recommended guidelines and as such the following changes will be in place form September 2022.

School Opening from September 2022:

School gate opening: 8.25am

Classroom doors open: 8.35am

School Day begins: 8.45am. Any children arriving after this time will be marked late. Any children arriving after 9.20am will receive an unauthorised absence mark for that session.

We have reviewed our Breakfast club provision in line with this and a separate letter will be sent detailing this change.

We hope that the changes made to school opening will cause minimal impact for families and hopefully make it easier for working parents.

There will be no changes to the end time of the school day, breaktimes or lunchtimes. The timings of nursery sessions will also remain unchanged.

Thank-you for your continued support.

Yours Sincerely

Parent Information Letter for September 22

July 2022

Dear Parents/Carers

It is the time of year when we inform you of staffing changes that are happening in school ready for September.

Miss Harris, Mrs Cartwright and Miss Wade are all leaving us for pastures new. We wish them well in their new ventures and thank them for all the time they have dedicated to teaching your children.

Miss Wade’s SENDCO responsibility will be taken over by myself for the Autumn Term. I would also like to thank Miss Wade for her hard work in developing SEND at our school since she took over the role of SENDCO. We will continue to build on her hard work next year.

Mrs Bilton is also expecting another baby and will start her maternity leave during the Autumn Term. She will be carrying out small group work in KS2 prior to starting her maternity leave.

We have appointed three new teachers to school, Mr Irvine, Miss Beeching and Miss Ellis.

Reception to Year 6 Sponsored Read-A-Thon

The more that you read, the more things you will know.

The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.

                                                                     – Dr. Seuss

Message from the Ladygrove School Council:

READ-A-THON – WE NEED YOUR HELP!

2 weeks of Reading LAUNCHING 30th May until 13th June!

Dear Parents and Carers

We are running our very own READ-A-THON to raise much needed funds for a better LIBRARY and we need everyone’s support.

Pupils can choose whatever they want to read – from comics to classics – it’s all about reading for fun. And, they are motivated to read because the money they raise in sponsorship helps to revamp our Library space.

We, as the School Council, feel strongly that as Reading is at the heart of Ladygrove, we also need a Library space which will act as a place to celebrate the joy of books – Fiction and Non-Fiction!

All you have to do is:

  1. Take a look at what your child plans to read, or help them complete their list of books to read.

  1. Help your child find sponsors among family and friends. The easiest way to sponsor a child is to return the sponsor form with a cheque(s) made payable to Ladygrove Primary School or cash sent to school.

  1. SPONSORS can be a set amount, OR a child could be sponsored for every minute of reading they achieve.

There will be prizes for the children who raise the most money and for those who make a great effort with this challenge!

Please support your child’s sponsored read as much as you can. They’ll be helping provide a much needed quiet space where a child can simply ‘read’.

All sponsor money to be returned to school by FRIDAY 24th JUNE.

Thank you for your support!

The Ladygrove School Council appreciate every penny raised!

Years 1 to 6 – Online Safety Provision Letter

13th May 2022

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are excited to introduce a new addition to our school’s Computing and Online Safety provision. As children spend an increasing amount of time online, we felt it necessary to take further steps to ensure their online safety and help them navigate the digital world.

Natterhub is a safe, educational platform for primary schools. It looks and functions like ‘real’ social media but it is restricted to the school environment meaning that children can explore and play in a safe, online space to properly understand the benefits and potential pitfalls of being online.

Natterhub also includes weekly interactive lessons on all aspects of online safety for Years 1-6. These lessons aim to support your children in all aspects of their digital world and are aligned to the updated compulsory PSHE National Curriculum, which makes online safety a compulsory element in primary school teaching. Children work their way through the Natterhub ‘Badges of Honour’, which track and assess their journey to become a

fully-fledged digital citizen! This includes:

  • How to communicate appropriately using technology
  • The importance of time on and off screens
  • How to learn effectively, using the Internet
  • To make intelligent choices about what they do online
  • The importance of respectful online dialogue
  • To use privacy settings to stay safe online

Children will be provided with their own personal log in details which must remain confidential for online safety purposes. In the event of misplacing log in details or if you believe your children’s log in details have been shared, please contact school directly or your class teacher and this can be resolved as soon as possible.

By taking part in Natterhub, your children are being taught how to live with and live through technology in order to be safe and thrive online.

To find out more about the platform, simply visit www.natterhub.com

Thank you for your continued support.
