Year 1 News

We are super proud of all the children who worked so hard in their assessments last week! All of their hard work is showing and they have learnt so much since they started in September. We are very happy teachers!

This week we are continuing to learn about measurement by looking at mass and volume. The children used concrete materials (everyday objects, cubes, scales) to support them with their learning. They were really Tough Tortoises!

As Team Ants we will be learning about road safety in PSHE.

Year 1 will be making musical instruments this week out of cardboard and plastic bottles. The children have worked as Resourceful Squirrels in music using resources to help them decorate their own instruments.

Our Wise Owls are working hard in RWI. They are following their groups books for the week. There are spellings to go out on Friday this week as normal in their homework books.

Reminders from your teacher:

  • Please make sure you bring your P.E kit on a Monday ready for the week
  • Remember ‘Reading is the golden thread to learning’ so please read at least 3 times a week.
  • Spellings are sent out on a Friday in their red homework books.

Our Value for this half term is: Persevere

At Ladygrove, we encourage children to be Tough Tortoises. This means that we never give up when we find things difficult.  We use the resources around us, think harder and keep going until we reach our end goal. Through being Tough Tortoises, we learn to persevere.
