Nursery

Welcome to our Nursery

Ladygrove Nursery is a newly refurbished building set in a purpose- built foundation stage unit within Ladygrove Primary School and is specially designed for the education of children aged 3 to 4. The nursery is located at the front of the school and offers a stunning learning environment in which children develop in safe and nurturing surroundings.

The Nursery benefits from large open spaces and lots of natural light and offers a safe, stimulating and fun learning environment that encourages children to explore and experiment, be creative and develop their skills as they play. Within the room we have a variety of different areas to encourage learning through play and discovery. The room has a large carpeted area and an extensive provision for art and creative activities. There are doors leading to a secure outside play area to enrich the children’s learning and development through continue outside provision.

Our Early Years Team, which includes creative and experienced individuals, is effectively managed and coordinated by a dedicated and experienced Nursery teacher.
The nursery is open Monday to Friday from 8.30 a.m. to 3.15 p.m. during term time. Please find the exact dates of the terms in the Parental Information section. We close for 5 staff training days over the school year.

We offer funded part time (15 hours) places with the option to pay for additional hours.  We also offer full time (30 hours) places for families who qualify. If there are vacancies in our nursery we will operate a ‘Rising 3’ policy allowing children to start in the term that they turn 3.

The Curriculum

We plan according to the Early years curriculum and follow areas of learning, these are:

Prime Areas:

Physical development, Communication and Language, Personal and Social Development.

Specific Areas:

Reading, Writing, Mathematics, Understanding the World, Expressive Arts.
Our well-planned curriculum enables most children to achieve the early learning goals by the end of their Reception year. Our extensively resourced indoor and outdoor environment, enables free flow provision at all times.

Opportunities for Outdoor learning

We have a fabulous woodland area where we carry out our learning. When engaged in outdoor learning children may get messy and therefore a change of clothes is required. Wellington boots are a necessity!!

TAPESTRY

Observations of children’s work and ‘Wow’ moments are shared with parents via the Tapestry app.  Parents are also encouraged to share proud moments at home with nursery using the app, developing strong partnerships between home and nursery.

Encouraging a love of Reading

We encourage children and our families to develop a love of reading by borrowing books from the Nursery library, these books are prefect to read aloud and share.
Water bottles
Children can bring in their own water bottles from home (no juice please) to drink throughout the session. Please clearly name the bottle and place in the colour group baskets.

Toileting

If your child is toilet trained please provide plenty of spare clothes in a clearly labelled bag to hang on your child’s peg i.e.: pants, trousers and socks so we can change children if they have an accident. If your child is in pull ups, please provide pull ups/wipes and creams daily for your child.
