School Council

Our School Council contains two representatives from each class from Year 1 to Year 6.

We are voted onto School Council by the children in our class. Having this election teaches us about the importance of ‘Democracy’, which in one of the British Values.

We work with the Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher and our Assistant Headteachers on projects. Sometimes we work with the PTA and local Parish Council as well as visitors to our school.  These projects help to improve our school. In the past we have:

  • Helped raise money for our school Multi-use Games area, alongside the PTA and local Parish Council. This area is now used daily by children for playing sport in the day, at lunchtime and after-school.
  • Helped raise money for our Daily Mile Track, again working alongside our PTA and local Parish Council. All children now get chance to use this to keep fit and healthy.
  • During the academic year 2022-23, we worked on raising funds for a new library and designing it. This is because we wanted to raise the profile of reading in our school and make sure it is ‘Our Golden Thread to Learning’.  Our new library is being installed in October 2023. We are currently in the process of raising more money to stock it with exciting new books!

This year we are working with school leaders to make our lunchtimes even more fun than they already are. We have been working with Wellbeing Education towards achieving a Happy Lunchtime Award. We have implemented a new reward system for lunchtimes and made some changes to our playground at lunchtimes. We have introduced Diamond Diners, Lunchtime SMART code certificates and the ‘Concentration Station’ to our playground. We will be continuing to work on improving lunchtimes this year.
